Vocalist and leader of the group reveals to Rolling Stone Brasil Return Plans and says that 2023 shows would take place at Ibirapuera, not in the Unimed space

It is no exaggeration to say that Brazilian fans of Ghost They wait for the band’s return since their last visit, for two shows in the city of São Paulo, in September 2023. The group led by the vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Tobias Forge Not only did he lot at Unimed space, home with a capacity of 8,000 fans, as the tickets made themselves running out quickly. There were those who were waiting for dates in other cities, or even a third commitment in São Paulo, but that did not occur.

In an interview with Rolling Stone Brazil, to be published in full in the next print edition (with the theme Future of Music), Forge said that Papa V Perpetua and his Nameless Ghouls should not return this year, but in 2026. The artist ended fan theory that would mark performances in South America just before or after two performances in Mexico, scheduled for next September.

Initially, he replies:

“We will go to Brazil. You are in South America, and Mexico is Central America [nota: na verdade, América do Norte]. I know you know that, but there is this thing from the rest of the world to think that Mexico and Brazil are the same. We have always been very adamant [quanto à estrutura do show]especially now because our show is complicated. We marked Mexico City on the US tour because it is part of the continent. I mean, now, with everything that is happening, who the hell knows how long it takes to go from Texas to Mexico? I’m sure it will be all right in a few months, which is why Mexico is kind of marked a month after the US tour, because our things will be there. ”

More directly about Brazil and South America, Forge adds:

“Our true tour of South America, which will include Brazil and definitely Argentina and definitely Chile, do not know the rest. It’s a little unknown now. This will probably happen in 2026. I am sorry to say that, but it’s super complicated to get the logistics. And just to give a tip, what we will do is a little seasonal. We are depending on the hot climate to do it. [Ele mesmo diz: ‘Piscadinha, piscadinha’] So yes, that’s why. ”

2023 shows would be at Ibirapuera

Also during the chat, Tobias Forge revealed curious information: originally, the 2023 shows would not happen in the Unimed space, but in a larger place. The musician even quoted-in good Portuguese, it is said-the name “Ibirapuera”, without specifying whether in Ibirapuera Gymnasium or some open space of Ibirapuera Park.

Remembering the presentations of a year and a half ago, he said:

“We always try to go there. I mean: P#Ta M#RDA, South America… All bands say that, but it’s true: If you’re an artist and play live, there’s no place like South America. There’s no more place like this. And that always boosted our shows. The last time we were fantastic and played two nights.”

Then came the mention of Ibirapuera. Forge stated:

“The only thing that was a little unfortunate was that we ended up playing in a place that essentially did not hold our production. Our production was too big. And when the shows were announced, it was too late to change. We should have changed the show. We would have played in Ibirapuera or something. But we could not. It will be bigger and will be just a different scenario. ”
