Good Burger’s Kel Mitchell talks about never making a sequel and whether Good Burger 2 could still happen

More than two decades have passed since the launch of good burger, and the Nickelodeon movie is still going strong. The film, based on the Everything sketch of the same name, achieved excellent box office results for Paramount. So, with the duo’s popularity and financial reception, you can’t help but scratch your head considering the film has never been successful on the big or small screen. Kel Mitchell recently shared some thoughts on not having the chance to do a sequel and also considered the possibility that such a project could still happen.

I spoke to Kel Mitchell to celebrate good burgerThe 25th anniversary and the release of their limited edition Blu-ray Steelbook. During the conversation, I couldn’t help but ask if there was ever talk of a sequel right after the film’s release in 1997. And the beloved actor revealed that even though another role hadn’t happened, he and Kenan Thompson had been signed. . for a:

Yes, at Paramount, we were making a deal for three films. And then it turned into making us Two Heads Are Better Than None, which was the horror movie we made, and we never made the third movie. So we never did. … Yeah, it was, you know, it was great to see [Two Heads], but fans really want a sequel. So yeah, you know, we love fans, so keep your ear to the street and see what’s going on.

For those who don’t know, Two heads are better than none was the 2000 TV movie that served as the series finale of Kenan and Kel a show that fans continue to enjoy via Netflix . Honestly, it’s a shame the studio didn’t continue with this third film, especially considering how talented the two main stars were (and still are). Of course, we currently live in the era of sequels, reruns, and reboots, so almost anything is possible. After all, there was a time when Nickelodeon fans like me didn’t think full of nostalgia Hey Arnaldo! : The Jungle Movie would never see the light of day.

It is worth mentioning that the fast food-centric film technically received a sequel, despite being released as a novel. The book, entitled Good burger 2 to go (opens in a new tab), sees the lovely Ed following a disappointed customer around the world as the restaurant he loves goes into crisis. The story is funny, but it’s hard not to consider that it would have been even better to see it unfold on the big screen.

It was interesting to see how Brian Robbins’ teen comedy managed to stand the test of time. As fans continue to love him, Kel Mitchell also continues to feel love and can definitely enjoy the movie years later. During our interview, Mitchell also revealed the scene he and Kenan Thompson shot that still resonates with him today. In the last few years, the two raised the good burger sketch for the show tonightand came back again when Mitchell was involved in Everything Renaissance .

There doesn’t seem to be any real movement on a sequel at the moment, and such a thing could be a long shot at this point. But like so many fans, I’m not ready to raise the white flag just yet, and as Kel Mitchell suggested, I’ll keep an eye out for any updates on that.
