If you were a fan of High School Musical: The Musical – The series Since its creation in 2019, you have seen Nini and Ricky by Olivia Rodrigo and Joshua Bassett become the protagonists of a production of the high school musical musicals while showing their talents. since it started HSMTMTS, Rodrigo has become one of the most popular musical performers, among his mega hits like “Driver’s Patent” and “Buenas 4 U”. During the sentimental season 3 premiere, fans wondered what would become of Nini, given Rodrigo’s rising star. Well, yes, he’s taking a step back, but he’s going to have a “meaningful goodbye”.
As previously announced, Olivia Rodrigo will no longer be part of the regular cast of the third season. Rodrigo was named “guest star” on the show, as actors like Matt Cornett and Frankie Rodriguez go from supporting characters to leading the show. That said, Rodrigo’s Nini has a bow during this season of the Disney + series. When Gossipify chatted with HSMTMTS creator Tim Federle spoke about Rodrigo’s role in the future.
There would never have been a third season without Olivia, but I think we have such a talented cast that we have such angry fans who love them, that I felt like there was this natural opportunity to give Olivia a really meaningful hello and celebrate Olivia as she goes out and conquers the world with her music, while seeing characters played by extraordinary artists like Sophia Wylie, Dara Renee and Julia Lester and new characters played by Saylor Bell and Adrian Lyles … In the end, it wasn’t that hard. It was like I was saying, ‘Hey, come and shoot this and then go run around the world.’ We will have fun this season at the summer camp. And it all worked out.
As Tim Federle shared with us, they would not have abandoned Nini without an explanation. In fact, it looks like they would never have done Season 3 without the Grammy-winning artist. It may be hard for some fans to accept that Rodrigo is permanently stepping away from his Disney days to become a full-time singer, but it’s still heartwarming to know that he’s receiving a farewell that matches his character.
In this last season, Nini takes a trip with her mothers, as many of her classmates go to a theater camp called Camp Shallow Lake to stage a production of Frozen. In the field they meet high school musical real to Corbin Bleu, who he is playing a version of himself that is “a bit stupid”. Also includes an old Disney Jason Earles (who told us about a possible Hanna Montana Renaissance) as camp counselor, e dance with the starsJojo Siwa will also be a guest later in the season.
As Olivia Rodrigo goes on, apparently after this season, HSMTMTS it will allow multiple actors to shine and tell different stories in the process. The show is packed with young talent, as Tim Federle shared, and this season there is even more bad blood and the East High boys meet new talent at the camp.
The first two episodes of High School Musical: The Musical – The series Season 3, “Happy Campers” and “Into the Unknown”, is currently available to stream with a Disney + subscription . Other episodes of HSMTMTS they are Coming to Disney + on Wednesdays in August and will last until mid-September.
