MusicTefanie releases first album solo and delivers ‘a gift to Cultura’

With over 20 years of career in rap, the artist talked to Rolling Stone Brasil about Bunmi, who hit the platforms on Friday, 25

Stefanie It has a long career in rap. Born and created in Santo André, in the metropolitan region of São Paulo, the artist was influenced by the groups that popularized the genre in the 1990s and in 2004 decided to tell her version of history from the rhymes themselves.

Now, more than 20 years later, she launches Bunmifirst solo studio album in your career. The album debuted on Friday, 25, and materializes the experiences and reflections of the singer. Throughout 10 tracks, he sings about love, prejudice, perseverance and confirms why his verses made it one of the movement’s references, even at a time when women were absolute minority in the hip hop scene.

A gift for Stefanie for the world

The album title originates from the word Yoruba which means “my gift.” Like this, Bunmi It is born as a way for the artist to return every step she took throughout her career.

“It’s a gift for culture that taught me so much, a gift for the world and the people who cheered for that moment. Everything that strengthened me. People, the love I feel for the art that made me get here, look at this album and think: ‘I managed to deliver what I wanted most in life,” he said in conversation with Rolling Stone Brazil.

To put the first album in the world, she had the production of Grou and Daniel Ganjaman —What also signs the musical direction – and divided the microphones with names like LUEDJI LUNA, EMICIDA, Rashid, Rincon Sapiência, Deny Gizza, Cris SNJ, Mahmundi, Kamau, Rodrigo Ogi, Jonathan Ferr, Iza Sabino and Chilean Ana Tijoux.

Amid so many prominent collaborations, Stefanie also sees the album released by Jambox and selected in the notice of Natura Musical as a gift to herself. “When I look at the album, all the participation, I feel like I was also presented for having so many people I admire as people and artists. They are exceptional.”

In Bunmithe singer talks about intimate experiences and expects people to identify with. “I see my music as a rap to bring a message. It’s like I wanted people to reflect.”

New Stage of Career

The singer recalls that she has already released singles like “Crown of flowers” and “My closure”but understands that a disk is more accurate to show what is your style and your message.

By bringing her own perspective on topics and experiences, the singer also comes across a more mature version of her. To give life to BunmiShe went through a healing and self -care process that resulted in a stronger artist.

“It was a phase of a lot of meditation. When I stop writing, I like to reflect to get everything out. And I could understand questions of mine that I didn’t understand. So I feel light. I gave a new meaning to these things, took a weight and I feel strong to follow.”

Reflecting on her own trajectory, the artist was thrilled. “I would say, ‘You’re amazing, trust you more and don’t get rid of it,” she replied when asked about a board that would give himself in her childhood.

In some moments of my life I discharged my talent. I had something precious guarded. Everyone has. But the world is playing so much information, we start to compare, especially with social networks. It’s not like that. Each has its time and its process ” – Stefanie

For the first time releasing a solo album, but never alone, the artist emphasizes love as the most valuable message and advice. “Without love nobody follows. You have to have love for what you do. Having the people you love – and who love you – by your side. It is not easy to find it, but when it happens, surrender and be true. And that we can go around doing what we really love, making sense to life. This is what matters most in this crazy world today.”
