Born in Bradford, England, on August 6, 1946, Allan Holdsworth played not only guitar, but also piano. His career began in the late 1960s and took off in the following decade, with works alongside referential names of Jazz Fusion and Progressive Rock such as Soft Machine, BILL BRUFORD (Yes, King Crimson), UK, Jean-Luc Ponty, Tony Williamsamong many others.

Holdsworth stood out, in particular, by the use of advanced musical theory, such as unusual format chords, soils in variable tonal centers, mastery and implementation of different scales, peculiar execution of the connected technique (legato), among others.

His innovations have been such to the point that several other giants of the guitar quote him as influence: Eddie van Halen, John Petrucci (Dream Theater), Alex Lifeson (Rush), Joe Satriani, Yngwie Malmsteen and Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine), between others. Also received compliments from none other than Frank Zappathat defined it as “One of the most interesting guitar guitars worldwide”.

Although celebrated in the segment of the six strings, English has never been popular. In the mid -1980s, he had financial difficulties and had to sell part of his instruments and equipment to keep up.

Allan left us on April 15, 2017, at the age of 70. The musician suffered a heart attack at his home, in view, a city in the US state of California.
