Marcelo D2 takes the samba wheel for the first time for the channels of Amsterdam in the “Dutch carnival”

The musician presented a presentation of almost 4 hours for the capital of the Netherlands at King’s Day; The action was promoted by AMSTEL

Summary

Marcelo D2 held an unprecedented Samba wheel on the channels of Amsterdam during the King’s Day, promoted by Amspare, with a presentation of almost four hours that celebrated the Brazilian culture and the artist’s musical renewal.

“Amsterdam is like my second home, right? Very nice to bring Samba here.” This is how the singer Marcelo D2 describes the Baita show he made for the channels of Amsterdam this Saturday 26, with a samba wheel during the Day of the kingHoliday to celebrate the birthday of King Willem-Alexander.

THE Earth He accompanied the presentation of the musician together with the percussionists and his wife Luiza Machado, who aroused the date, known by the Brazilians who live in the Netherlands such as “Dutch Carnival”. The party started just before 10 and lasted almost four hours. While the boat was going through the channels, it was possible to see residents and tourists who approached to accompany the song.

All orange dressed – represented by glasses, wigs, earrings, clothes, hats – and drinks in hand, greeted and sang strong with the artist who had the party outdoors. As a coincidence, in the first hour, a boat of Brazilians crossed the ship with the samba wheel and accompanied us to the end, vibrating with every snoring of Cuíca.

During the action, promoted by Amspel, the artist recalled songs that are real cultural heritage in Brazil, such as ‘Don’t let samba die’, ‘I intend to celebrate’, ‘The show must continue’AND ‘Outlide’ Among many other hymns of the musical genre, which concern the party.

“The idea of doing this samba in the middle of” Carnival “is super. Earth.

This is the first time that the artist performs Day of the kingEven if I met the party a few years ago, when it came to finish some texts and, of course, smoking grass. For him, the similarity with the Brazilian party is precisely the offer of the “right to be happy” on a day of celebration, without thinking about work or no other obligation.

The party is not an alienation, in fact, it is a struggle for the right to be happy. So, I think that all the peoples, in particular the people, who work all year round, who have that super tiring routine, arrives right now, says: “Now it’s my moment”. Our Carnival in Brazil has it for damn, it is a struggle for the right to be happy, celebrating, “he says.

With over 30 years of career, D2 tells how partnership with the main brands, like Amspare, brings other possibilities, as well as being the perfect wedding: samba and beer. He believes this game helps to hunt for prejudices with samba. “Having a large brand sponsoring and doing samba events is perfect.”

Shortly before finishing the presentation, the artist descended from the boat and sang among the Brazilians who were on the street.

‘Arco and arrow’

D2 is at a different moment of the career. He recently released the album Practical Manual of the new traditional samba, where he saves some of his ancestors, when he started with the Planet hempincluding acestral Cuica of Maestro Quirino, Tambourine, Repique and a lot of Cacique de Ramos, mixed with the 808 electronic drums.

Just before navigating the Amsterdam channels, he chatted with the press. In a very relaxed conversation, telling how it is within samba, rap and punk rock, all the rhythms that contest and face the reality of anyone.

“In the last 30 years [tenho buscado uma sonoridade diferente]. I don’t know if there is a very radical change, no. Punk rock was a movement of many disputes and called me a lot [na época do Planet Hemp]. This comfort, do you know what it is? This has punk, rock, rap. I think Samba also has it, and it was a natural way I was getting old, wanting to renew my sound, “he explains.

The musician uses the metaphor of archery and arrow: the more they pull back, the more there are traits. What does it mean with this? Who has revisited the Carioca Samba and even his career, to renew himself. He even confessed to having even thought of making music fall, but found a renewal a purpose.

“The more I come back there, the more I support a lot. I thought not to make more music and the like, but for me, working with music must have a lot of purpose, it is connected? I am here to do it: samba. Samba has this thing to be resistance and party at the same time, in the same place. This is essential for me,” he says. “It’s a bit ridiculous by saying these serious things with this genre dress, but it’s okay,” he jokes.

Amsterdam and the green

D2 was for the first time in Amsterdam in 1995, when he came to cover the Cannabis Cupor the marijuana world cup, where the largest cannabis competitors are collected, including producers of plants or plants farmers. It was also the first time he left Brazil.

“I don’t remember at all,” he jokes when he was asked how the journey went. But soon he admits that it was a great shock of culture to arrive in the Dutch capital and to come across such a vast market in cannabis, with medicinal products and even a policy of reducing damage.

“The Netherlands are a super liberal country, so he already had a policy of reducing the damage that was a shock for me. I came back with my head as: the world can be better, there are other alternatives, other ways of thinking, to live. Of those last 30 years there, I led the world. I played in 37 countries and that was a way of looking and knowing that the world is greater than my sight,”

As for the legalization of marijuana for consumption in Brazil, he underlines the following question: the lands of Tupiniquin were the last country to adopt public education in South America, as well as slavery. “We have this first line of delay. South America is almost entirely legalized and Brazil does not. I think Brazil takes advantage of this policy of fear on this conversation on drugs. But if we think that while Brazil, as a world, we are very late”, strengthens.
