The singer is stable after the diagnosis of pneumonia
Arlindo Cruz was hospitalized again on the night of Tuesday 29 April, after the diagnosis of pneumonia. The news was confirmed by the artist’s consultant, who ensured that he was clinically stable and to be followed closely by a medical team.
Hospitalization occurs in a very delicate health condition. Since he underwent a hemorrhagic stroke in 2017, Arrindo has faced sequels that influence his language and mobility, which require continuous care and an intense accompaniment.
Even so, its history is marked by an admirable force that inspires not only samba fans, but all those who accompany their trajectory.
After stroke, the Sambista spent more than a year in the hospital. Since then, there have been more than 14 surgical interventions, five of which are in the lead. In 2023, an out of season parotitis led him to a new hospitalization that lasted 26 days.
These are numbers that frighten, but reveal rare resistance, a silent force that is cleaned in the rhythm of the so much and the cava.
Even with the limits imposed by health, the name of Arrindo has never stopped echoing in Brazilian music. Their successes remain alive on samba wheels, popular parties and in the hearts of the people. Songs like “My Place” and “The Show must continent” have gained even more exciting outlines in the face of the personal battle that the ride behind the scenes.
Arlindo Cruz: Samba is his voice, even when the body puts himself
Arlindo Cruz is more than a singer. It is one of the pillars of contemporary samba. Founder of The Backyard Group and partners of names such as Beth Carvalho, Jorge Aragão and Zeca Pagodinho, contributed to writing fundamental chapters of Brazilian popular music.
Today, even far from the stage, its presence remains surprising. The family, always by your side, was essential in this process. His son Arlindinho, also a Sambista, took part in the mission of keeping his father’s work alive and ensuring that his inheritance follows that he is celebrated by the new generations.
The new hospitalization was welcomed with concern, but also with hope. In a statement, the Arrindo team thanked the fans for the affection and stressed that it is still monitored with all the necessary treatments.
In the meantime, outside the hospital, the crowd is great. Because if there is one thing that Brazil has learned from Arrindo Cruz, it is that Samba could even suffer from breaks, but never stop playing.
