Lady Gaga It performs at Copacabana beach this Saturday, May 3, for an estimated audience of 1.6 million people and, to ensure the safety of all, the government of Rio de Janeiro adopted different measures to command the historic event.
Blockages and magazines
To begin with, the cross streets to Avenida Atlântica, which should also be occupied by the public, will be blocked with grids from 11am on Saturday, from the rudder to the 6th Post 6 of Copacabana Beach.
Along this route, about 78 observation towers and 18 magazine and block points will be installed to prevent the access of unauthorized people or with materials such as glass bottles, knives or scissors, and ensure the physical integrity of Little Monsters.
SAFETY IN THE SANDS
The Rio de Janeiro City Hall will carry out Operation Tatuí, which consists of a complete scanning of the sand strip, with the help of tractors and sieves, to remove materials that can be used to hurt those present.
The operation was performed at the Madonnaheld in Copacabana in May last year, and 70 coconuts, 32 bottles of water, pans, fryers and even a large metal structure were found.
“Red Sea” and Patrol throughout the city
The Rio Military Police will also use a policing technique seen at this year’s Bahian Carnival: in Indian line, agents cross the crowd and people dodge to open a passing corridor. The technique is known as “Red Sea”, in reference to the biblical passage in which Moses opens the sea for his people to cross, and aims to “avoid crimes of opportunity”.
In addition, police identified by white helmets will travel the Copacabana edge to avoid confusion and prevent possible crimes. About 5,300 security agents are involved in the complete operation, according to the State Government, and they also reinforce patrolling in areas such as Aterro do Flamengo, Terminal Kindness, Terreirão and Central do Brasil.
