MusicAlice in Chains Cancele Tour after drummer suffers “medical emergency”

Sean Kinney was hospitalized and band revealed few details about his painting, but said he has no risk and has positive prognosis

THE Alice in Chains He had to cancel the tour of six shows he would perform in the United States between last Thursday, 8, and next Friday, 16. They would play at festivals and perform solo performances.

It would be the first stage commitments since April 2024, when they played at the Sick New World festival. The last tour itself occurred in the second half of 2023. In the meantime, the guitarist, vocalist and leader Jerry Cantrell released a solo album, I Want Bloodand came to Brazil last November.

The current excursion was suspended due to a medical emergency with Sean Kinney. According to the announcements, the drummer is not at risk of death and has a positive prognosis.

In the first note, which canceled only the show of Thursday, 8, the band stated:

“After tonight’s speaker at Mohegan Sun Arena, Sean suffered a medical emergency that is not a risk of death. Unfortunately, we will have to cancel the show tonight. We apologize for the inconvenience. Refunds are available at the place of purchase.”

In update, the group said:

“After a cautious consideration and following the board of medical professionals, we have made the decision to cancel our viae festival performances and Alice in Chains shows as the main attraction. While we are all eager to return to stage, Sean’s health is our top priority at the moment. Although the problem demands immediate attention, its long term prognosis is positive. We thank you for your understanding and support.”

Alice in Chains in recent years

Alice in Chains’s latest album, RAINIER FOGcame out in 2018. Since then, Cantrell has released two solo albums – Brighten (2021) and the aforementioned I Want Blood – while the vocalist William Duvall made available One Alone (2019) and 11.12.21 Live-in-Studio Nashville (2022).
