Music Grunge icon that entered music in the most spoken movie of 2025

The movie Sinners (Sinners) has been giving something to talk about. And not just for the impactful script or the performance of Michael B. Jordanbut also for the soundtrack.

The repertoire has songs from Buddy Guy, Brittany Howard (Alabama Shakes), Rod Wave, Raphael Saadiq and a grunge icon: Jerry Cantrellfrom Alice in Chains.

He signs the song “In moonlight” in collaboration with the Oscar -winning composer LUDWIG Göransson (OPPENHEIMER, Black panther) and told the podcast MARK AND ME (via Blabberouth) as his involvement with the trail, which also brings the drummer Lars Ulrich (Metallic) Playing in the track “Bury That Guitar”:

“My friend Lars called me saying I was working with Ludwig Göransson on a soundtrack for a movie called Sinners. And he said he (Ludwig) and the director (Ryan Coogler) They were listening to Alice in Chains as they worked in this movie. Ludwig had a song that was kind of the theme of the whole movie – recurring throughout the work – and wanted me to try to make a song for her. He (Lars) put me in contact with them. (…) It is a song called ‘In moolight’ And it’s on the soundtrack. ”

Cantrell added, commenting on this endeavor as composer alien to Alice in Chains:

“My motivation continues. And I think this must have been evident in the last two years, with what I have done personally with the creative groups I have involved with. Opportunities present themselves where they appear. I think, in this branch, for me, it is necessary to have patience not to force things. No problem going away, recharging the batteries, keeping the creativity for a certain period and having a long term vision.”

About the movie Sinners

Sinners is written and directed by Ryan Coogler, who had already worked with Michael B. Jordan in Creed (2015) and Black panther (2018). The film premiered in theaters on April 18, including in Brazil, and has already earned more than $ 200 million.

The plot involves terror, vampires, historical references and supernatural elements, all packed by the constant presence of the soundtrack designed by Ludwig Göransson.

Alice in Chains in recent years

Alice in Chains’s latest album, RAINIER FOGcame out in 2018. Since then, the guitarist Jerry Cantrell released two solo records – Brighten (2021) and the one already mentioned I Want Blood (2024) – while the vocalist William Duvall made available One Alone (2019) and 11.12.21 Live-in-Studio Nashville (2022).
