On the eve of the movie release with Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan, artist now speaks of ‘Renaissance’ and keeps the door open to the future of the project
Two years after announcing that it would release only another album as The Weeknd, Abel Tesfaye You are no longer so sure about ending this chapter. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weeklythe artist revealed that he has not yet decided whether he will really retire the alter ego that consecrated him worldwide.
The disk Hurry Up Tomorrowlaunched this year, marked the closure of the trilogy started with After Hours (2020) and Dawn FM (2022). The expectation was that this was the last work under the name The Weeknd – But now Tesfaye considers another possibility. “It seems the end, yes. I’ve flirted with this idea on other albums. But it can also be a Renaissance. Who knows?” He said.
This Friday, May 16th, the movie that follows comes to theaters Hurry Up Tomorrowstarring Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan. Already on the last day 9, Tesfaye started its new tour alongside Playboi Cartiwith debut in Glendale, Arizona, including the first live performances of “Opening Night”, “Given up on me” and the title track of the album.
He also recently performed at the charity event of Robin Hood Foundationin New York, and will be the musical guest of the The Tonight Show This Thursday, 15.
