Music Costa releases a star for Dalva, album Tribute to Dalva de Oliveira

With participation by Maria Bethânia, Amaro Freitas and others, the album celebrates the Legacy of the Queen of Voice in exciting interpretations and sophisticated arrangements

At 88 and 70 career, Alaíde Costa continues to reaffirm its importance in the history of Brazilian popular music. On May 9, the singer and songwriter launches A star for Dalvaalbum Tribute dedicated to Dalva de Oliveiraone of the greatest icons of the Brazilian song. With production of Thiago Marques Luiz and release by the label Deckthe project brings together great MPB names in exciting interpretations of immortalized classics in the voice of Dalva.

Known as the “Queen of Voice”, Dalva de Oliveira shone with his powerful timbre and visceral interpretation, eternalizing songs like “Everything is over”, “Yes,” and “White Flag”. His career began in the 1930s and reached his peak as a member of the Trio. Dalva also had international projection, even singing in the coronation of the Queen Elizabeth IIin the United Kingdom.

The tribute of Alaíde Costaone of the last living representatives of MPB’s gold generation, has a carefully selected repertoire with new arrangements and weight collaborations. Maria Bethânia interpret “Ave Maria no Morro” alongside the guitarist João Camarerowhile AMARO FREITAS shine in the rereading of “El Día I want me” and “White Flag”. The first single from the album, “There is a God”brings Alaíde in an exciting duet with the pianist Vitor Araújoanticipating the sensitivity of the project.

Other highlights include Guinga in “Good morning”, ANTONIO ADOLFO in “Yes,”, Cristóvão Bastos with the arrangements of “Your jealousy”and André Mehmari revisit “End of Comedy”. Filó Machado and Léa Freire join “Second floor”and Roberto Sion signs a new version of “In this same place/all over”. The album also has participation of Edson Cordeiro, Gabriel Deodato, Alexandre Vianna, Gilson Peranzzetta, José Miguel Wisnik and Itamar Assiere.

Dalva It has always been a great inspiration to me. Being able to pay this tribute is an old dream that I now do, thanks to my producer Thiago Marques Luizmy partner for 20 years, ”says Alaíde.

Thiago reinforces the importance of the project: “This is the eighth album that I produce with Alaídeand perhaps the most special. We gathered interpreters and musicians who share the admiration for Dalva. It is a gift for the musical memory of Brazil ”.
