Artist received tribute from the Ministry of Culture for his contribution to music and representativeness, during an event at Palace Capanema
This Tuesday, May 20, the singer and songwriter Liniker was decorated with the Order of Cultural Merit (WTO), one of the highest honors granted by the federal government to personalities that stand out in the valorization of Brazilian culture. The delivery of the tribute occurred during the reopening of Palace Capanema, in Rio de Janeiro, in an event that was attended by the president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and the Minister of Culture, Margareth Menezes.
The distinction was given to the degree of “knight”, dedicated to those who have relevant performance in their areas, and recognizes both the artistic importance of Liniker as its representativeness within the country’s music and cultural scenario. Beside her, they were also honored Elisa Lucinda, MAEVE JINKINGS, Monica Martelli and Paula Lima.
The ceremony also marked the 40 years of existence of the Ministry of Culturecelebrated under the motto “40 years of Minc: democracy and culture”.
This is not the first time that Liniker receives an institutional recognition for its trajectory. In 2023, the artist was named immortal for Brazilian Academy of Culture (ABC), occupying the chair that belonged to the iconic Elza Soares.
Instituted in 1995, the Order of Cultural Merit It is an annual award that honors individuals and institutions whose actions contribute to the strengthening and diffusion of national culture. Among the names already harvested in previous years are Gilberto Gil and Fernanda Montenegro.
