In an interview with Zane Lowe (via Consequence), Cyrus revealed that everything should continue this way. There are no plans for tours. And your three reasons are convincing: Protect your vocal cords, sting and prioritize the financial health of your career. Initially, she explains:
“The physicality of what I do, athletics, the chemicals produced on your body when you are at this level cause a lot of stress. Working from the inside out, I have certain protocols that keep me sober. This is superimportant to me. So, part of it is to remain mentally, physical, spiritually and emotionally well – and I want to emphasize the ‘physically’ because of how exhausting is a live physical presentation.
Concern with your work instrument, the voice, occurs due to a diagnosis of Reinke’s edemaa swelling caused by the presence of liquid in the so -called Reinke space, located in the larynx. As a result, vocal folds acquire a gelatinous feature. This condition, even, was responsible for making Miley sing more serious – and, in her words, was originated by “Abuse of vocal cords” and “Stay awake, drinking, smoking and celebrating after each show”.
“My voice always sounded like this. It’s part of my unique anatomy. Even when I’m talking sometimes at the end of the day, I call my mother and she says, ‘Oh, you seem to be talking about a radio.’ This is how you know that I am really tired, because it creates that definitive sound of vocal ‘frying’. ”

Still according to Miley Cyrus, the vocal cord polyp with which it lives represents a certain type of risk. According to her, one of her vocal folds is damaged whenever she sings.
“In the army, they say, ‘Two is one, one is none.’ Now, I have ‘one’ – and ‘one is none.’ That’s why I protect so much what I have.”

Financial challenges
Longer, the last of the three reasons – financial challenges – was approached by Miley Cyrus as a kind of consequence. If the artist cannot perform so many shows in series, it is quite expensive to tour.
“The tour is not free. So if I can’t do a certain amount of shows, it mathematically makes no sense to promote it the way I need it.”

In an interview of 2023 to British Vogue, Miley Cyrus presented more justifications not to make tours. The singer made it clear that she simply seeks to do what she wants – and excsion is not on her priority list, especially by large arenas.

Still in his statement, Cyrus pointed out that his option to stay away from the tours did not move away from fans, but rather from the spotlight placed by the media. This way, she can preserve herself, besides maintaining a healthier routine that does not involve constant trips. Finally, it made it clear: the hiatus of long tours can also end at any time.
“When I introduced myself to you, it was some of the best days of my life and we will continue this journey together, as we have done in the last two decades. This has nothing to do with lack of appreciation for fans and everything to do with simply I don’t want to be in a locker room. That is the reality of life on the road. […] I don’t want to sleep on a moving bus. It’s not the best for me now and if you are aware of my career, you will realize that I am always changing and my perception of it can change too. ”
