Today 69, Paul Mario Day was part of the band in his first months and did not record material, but saw his name enter the history of Heavy Metal
Paul di’annowho left us last year, was not the original vocalist of the Iron Maiden. The function had two other occupants until it reached him, who recorded the first albums: Dennis Wilcock And the first of all, Paul Mario Day. This was less than a year, between December 1975 and October 1976, when he was dismissed for not having so much experience.
Unlike other musicians who passed Maiden in the 1970s, Day, curiously, geared with his artistic career. Integrated bands like Moire, Wildfire and the version of Andy Scott and Mick Tucker of the influential Sweetlegendary group of glam rock. For years, however, the 69-year-old singer has been away from the public radar-and now the reason is known.
According to Cart & Horses Facebook Pagepub that received Maiden in his first performances, Paul Mario Day faces cancer and has “just a few remaining weeks” of life. Paul Mario Day and the reunion with Steve Harris
Years before this event, in 2019, Paul Mario Day was able to meet with Steve Harris, bassist and founder of Iron Maiden. Next to the vocalist were also the guitarists Dave Sullivan and Terry Rance. Only an original member was not present: the drummer Ron “Rebel” Matthews.
At the same time, Day, Sullivan and Rance came to perform together at the same Cartes. Completed the training also guitarist Terry Wapram (Member of Maiden from 1977 to 1978) and the drummer Doug Sampson (1977 to 1979).
