Billy Joel and normal pressure hydrocephalus
Billy Joel canceled the tour because of his diagnosis of normal pressure hydrocephalus. The artist would do 17 shows in the United States and England.

The disorder affects about 0.2% of people in their 70s and can cause difficulties in marching, bladder control problems and cognitive difficulties. The most common treatment involves surgery in which a device known as shunt is implemented to remove excess fluid.
An explanation on the website of Cleveland Clinic states:
“Normal pressure hydrocephalus (HPN) is uncommon among dementia similar conditions because it is often reversible. However, the chances of reverse this condition are higher with early diagnosis and rapid treatment. Diagnosis and treatment delays increase the probability that brain damage caused by pressure are permanent, severe or both.”
In a statement, the musician regretted the cancellation of performances, but reflects on the importance of taking care of health. Tickets for all shows will be fully reimbursed.
