Composition highlighted by the bassist made him say “what the hell is he talking about?” But he recognizes: this is one of Serj Tankian’s virtues
It is not always difficult to understand the letters of system of a Down. The beginning of “Chop Suey!” let it say: even by deciphering the words sung quickly by SERJ TANKIANIt is not a quiet task to understand the real meaning of the composition – a theme much more serious than the initially imagined.
However, in the opinion of Shavo Odadjianthere is a composition that stands out in this regard. According to the SOAD bassist, the original composition of “BOUNCE”album track Toxicity (2001), made him quite confused.
In an interview with Metal Hammer (via Igor Miranda website), Odadjian, who is co -author of the song, said:
“I made up the instrumental part of the song and the serj wrote the vocal part. The original name was ‘PJS’. Instead of ‘Jump! Pogo Pogo Pogo Pogo!’ The lyrics said ‘Pisha Pisha Pisha Pisha!’.

But would it be a problem for Shavo? On the contrary, he believes that one of Serj’s great virtues as an artist is to develop confused compositions.
“This is part of the beauty of the Serj. He has this approach, but always leaves something there for everyone to interpret it the way he wants.”
To the podcast BROKEN RECORD (via Wiplash), Tankian revealed that he has composed “BOUNCE” with the goal of making fun of Heavy Metal – for him, the musical style gets funny when it takes too seriously. The main inspiration for this was Dadaism, the artistic movement of Vanguarda notorious precisely for rejecting logic. As their bandmates rejected the idea, the track had a letter about… orgies.
SYSTEM OF A Down and “BOUNCE”
Read below the finished letter of “BOUNCE”from System of a Down (via letters.mus.br) – and do not blame us for any bad words:
“Jump
Up
Down
Sul
Pule (Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau)
Up (Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau)
Down (Pau, Pau, Pau), Suba (Pau, Pau, Pau)
Pule (Pau), up (stick), suba (Pau), down (stick)
I went out for a meeting with a girl, it was a little late
She had so many friends (sliding by so many hands)
I brought my cock just to show her a trick
She had so many friends (sliding by so many hands)
Pule (Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau)
Up (Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau)
Down (Pau, Pau, Pau), Suba (Pau, Pau, Pau)
Pule (Pau), up (stick), suba (Pau), down (stick)
Unexpected twister games, all players were unknown
Quickly a line was formed (but there was only one stick there)
Everyone will be able to play, fetishes, fantasies
It was so exotic (but there was only one stick there)
Pule (Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau)
Up (Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau)
Down (Pau, Pau, Pau), Suba (Pau, Pau, Pau)
Pule (Pau), up (Pau), SUBA (Pau), Down (Pau) (OH)
Ah, I like to open you all
To play who is behind
Pule (Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau)
Up (Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau, Pau)
Down (Pau, Pau, Pau), Suba (Pau, Pau, Pau)
Pule (Pau), up (Pau), SUBA (Pau), Down (Pau) ”
