Gilberto Gil comments on the importance of the award council in the valorization of Brazilian music. “I feel very well being part of this advice. Music has always been at the center of my life, and being with people so involved and aware of the responsibility we have with Brazilian culture is an honor. They are friends, colleagues, names that have been part of this story and others that are coming now. After Zé, I am the oldest here, and it is moving to see how this group remains united by the commitment to recognize and celebrate Brazil’s music”He said.

Zélia Duncan talks about the process of choosing the honoree. “It is a deliciously democratic process, a conversation in which each one brings their experience, their taste, their vision. This is how it is about music, each one’s opinion, experience, taste, vision and finally know how to listen. I am very happy with the choice of Cazuza. I think it’s an important year, your name and work deserve to be increasingly valued. And the prize will do exactly that, that we put Cazuza in the lap”.
