Singer said he spent years trying to overcome the phobia to perform live until he found relief in therapeutic sessions with the substance
Missing a few days to launch Virginyour new studio album, Lord It has been talking openly about transformations that go beyond music. In an interview with LATE SHOW WITH STEPHEN COLBERTShe shared that she was able to overcome an old fear of performing live with the help of an unusual tool: MDMA, in the therapeutic environment.
“I had been terrified of stage since I was five, when I did community theater,” he said.
It was something physical, really visceral. It was not nervous, it was a deep reaction.
Asked what helped change this pattern, it was straightforward. “Therapy with MDMA. Changed everything.”
Lord He explained that he tried everything over the years, but nothing had worked. According to her, fear was engraved in the body in a way that no conversation was able to undo. “I was told that certain answers get stuck there, and you only really access this when I work the body in other ways. When I did this therapy the next day, I just knew: it’s over.”
The speech came a few days after a closed event at Baby’s All Right in New York, where the artist played Virgin full for fans – the same bar cited in the track “What was that that”which opens the disc.
