Unlike ‘man with h’, who portrays the romance of the two, a former red-back biography launched in 2004, made no mention of the relationship
Man with hbiography of Ney Matogrosso Launched this year and who has been snatching the audience in theaters and streaming, makes an important historical reparation. The film finally portrays one of the most emblematic novels of Brazilian music, between Ney and Cazuza.
It is something, in theory, elementary, but it was “erased” in a previous biography: Cazuza – Time does not. This movie, directed by Sandra Werneck and Walter Carvalhocame out in 2004.
Character directly linked to the story, Ney Matogrosso admits that he was disappointed that he was not included in the film released 21 years ago.
In your memories book, Mud (2018), Ney stated (via Metropolis):
“When I remember the movie they made about him (Cazuza), I’m sad. It’s not talking badly, but it’s very reductionist. It was much more than they tried to portray, it bothers me. It’s impossible to describe a human being in a movie, but who knows the real story is shocked by the result. ‘ film must answer. “
In fact, Ney herself says that he heard from Sandra Werneck her argument not to have included him in the movie.
He recalls:
“I talked about all our trajectory and our love. Then I was told that I was such a big character that I didn’t fit the movie.”

“He would have so little space that I couldn’t give the real dimension of Cazuza and Ney’s relationship, which appeared in just two or three scenes of the movie.”
The romance with Cazuza
Ney Matogrosso and Cazuza met in 1979 and had a brief, but intense relationship in the early 1980s. The romance lasted about three months. However, they remained friends until the death of Cazuza, a victim of AIDS, in 1990.

This and other passages of Ney Matogrosso’s life and work are present in the film Man with hwhich debuted in Netflix on June 17. The film took just four days to become the most watched on the streaming platform.
In the plot, Ney is played by the actor Jesuit Barbosawhich has been highly praised for work on paper.
