The band’s only presentation in 2025 had great production, speech about love and friendship in place of politics and Matty Healy as … Matty Health

In its first and only presentation of 2025, the The 1975 took the main stage of the Glastonbury On the night of Friday, June 27, for a show that mixed theatricality, megalomania and nostalgia. With a 20 -track set and a production that cost the initial budget four times, including rolling treadmills, LED panels and even a car on stage, Matty HealyAnd their band delivered a show that reaffirms their place among the most charismatic and controversial headliners of the current British scene.

In the first few minutes, the performative climate was already perceived. Yaly came with a guinness in one hand, cigarette in the other, and the sound of trumpets announcing the beginning with “Happiness”. Following, “If you’re to the SHY (Let Me Know) and “Love Me” they kept the pace rapid, while “She’s American” surprised by flirting with “I Want It That Way”classic of BACKSTREET BOYS.

Between sip and another, Yaly He made a point of reminding the audience of his inflated self -image.

“The best poet, ladies and gentlemen, is what I am. A generational poet.

Possibly a poke in the exTaylor Swiftwhich released an album called THE TOTURED POETS DEPARTMENT. But between ironies and provocations, the singer also made a rare sincere speech: “We know that there are those who expect political postures. But we make the conscious decision not to go this way. We want our legacy to be of love and friendship,” he said before an audience divided between applause and murmurs.

Even with this statement, the nostalgic climate of the night became stronger than any absence of positioning. Classics like “Robbers”, “Somebody Else” and “Fallingforyou” were received with an emotional choir, and Yaly came to spill some tears at the end of “About You”last of the set, accompanied by its ex Carly Holt. Shortly before, already in more formal costumes after a costume exchange, he asked the audience to watch Charli XCX and Defton The next day, calling Charli of your “best friend”.

When leaving the stage, a red word appeared on the big screens: dogs. An enigmatic nod to the band’s future (next new album is there?), Or perhaps one last bark before silence?
