Under medical recommendation, formerly keyboardist suspends his next performances in July, but preserves British tour to October
Rick Wakemanfamous for your work in Yes and in iconic solo albums like The Six Wives of Henry VIII (1973) and Journey to the Center of the Earth (1974), announced the postponement of the American tour Strictly wakeman. The reason is medical indication for surgery. The diagnosis refers to a “continuous health problem” without detailed specifications.
The series of nine performances, previously scheduled to start later this month, had as its unpublished proposal adapted versions for piano and voice. Wakeman would be accompanied by the singer Hayley Sandersonknown to the program Stricly Coming Dancing from the BBC.
In an official statement, the organizers instructed fans to keep their tickets, as they will be valid for the new dates. A postponement is not disclosed – the announcement should occur soon as Wakeman is recovered.

Despite the mishaps in US territory, European dates remain confirmed. The tour The Return of the Caped Crusader PT. 2 It starts on October 12 in Aylesbury and runs until October 29 in Bristol. In these presentations, Wakeman should revisit classic solo and brings the English Rock Ensemble to the stage.
Rick Wakeman and Health Problems
Now 76, Rick Wakeman has faced several medical challenges during his lifetime: he suffered three heart attacks before age 25, he had cirrhosis, hepatitis and pneumonia, and even faces vision problems such as macular degeneration.
Even so, it remains active on stages and studio, with recurring tours and recordings. In April 2024, he even held a farewell tour throughout Brazil.
