On September 14, the FABRICE CLUBin São Paulo, will be the scene of a musical celebration as intense as personal: the Massari Fest 2025. Idealized by Fábio Massarijournalist, writer and eternal “Reverend” from the MTV BRAZILthe festival marks the 61th anniversary of the curator with a line-up that reflects its sound and affective trajectory. The big attraction of the night will be the New York band Place to Bury Strangersknown for your extreme approach to Noise Rock, Post-Punk and Shoegaze.
Formed in 2002 and led by Oliver Ackermannthe APTBs has renewing its creative energy with recent releases such as EP Hologra and the album See Through You. Massari defines the band as one of their 21st century favorites and states:
I even played the first works on my radio program Etc.from the OIFM. It’s amazing to see that with 20 years on the road, they seem to be in the best of the forms – Synthesizer, last year’s album, is one of the best in discography; And live performances are increasingly spectacular.
Beyond New Yorkers, the Massari Fest 2025 It also makes room for Brazilian sounds that run away from the obvious. One of them is the BUFO borealisproject headed by Juninho Sangorgio (Basement rats) and Rodrigo Saldanha (Invisible Friends), that mixes fusion jazz, experimental funk and punk attitude. With three albums released and a live album, the band is known for unpredictable performances and very high technical level, which Massari It calls “neat and intense exploration of dynamics.”
Another national highlight is the band Portraitwhich moves between the psychedelia of the 60s and 70s and contemporary aesthetics. The multi-instrumentalist ANA ZUMPANOdrummer and vocalist of the group, will also perform with the Oruanreinforcing the “Sonic-Existential” character of the night. The magnetic presence of Dwarf On stage is pointed out by Massari as one of the reasons for including both formations in this year’s programming.
