Erlend Øye band, icon of the Indie 2000S, returns to Brazil in October for special presentation in Audio with production of Balaclava and Heavy Love
One of the most beloved bands of Indie Pop of the 2000s is back in Brazil, and in style. The Germano-Norwegian quartet The Whitest Boy Alive Take the stage of Audioin São Paulo, on October 30, for a unique show, with production signed by the seals Balaclava Records and Heavy Love. Led by Erlend Øyealso known for his work at Duo Folk Kings of conveniencethe group is synonymous with lightness, groove and minimalist melodies. Formed in 2003, in Berlin, the project was born as a solo initiative, but soon took shape with the musicians MARCIN ÖZ (low), Daniel Nentwig (keyboards) and SEBASTIAN MASCHAT (battery). Live, the quartet is known for turning soft tracks into dancing and unpredictable jams, all played live, without samples or computers.
With only two albums released, Dreams (2006) and Rules (2009), the WHITEST BOY ALIVE marked a generation. Hits like “Golden Cage”, “Burning” and “1517” They echoed on the indie tracks around the world and still today carry a timeless aura. After a hiatus started in 2010, the band has gathered again on time in recent years, including the release of the single “Serious”in 2020, which makes this reunion with the Brazilian public even more special.
This will be the group’s third visit to the country, after passages in 2009 and 2011, and promises to miss a repertoire full of groove, nostalgia and Scandinavian charm. With its peculiar charisma, clumsy dance steps and always light delivery, Erlend Øye It remains a master in the art of involving the audience and this show has everything to be one of the darlings of the year for indie pop fans.
The event unites two powers of national alternative music: a Balaclava Recordsresponsible for bringing to Brazil names like Slowdive, King Krule and Fleet Foxesand the Heavy Lovewhich in ten years of operation has already conducted experiences with names such as Erykah Badu, Yuksek and Bullet Desire. Together they promise a night to stay in memory.
