British band comes more sharp and emotional on album that mixes dancing riffs, confused love lyrics and a new aesthetics full of attitude
They emerged as two girls in long farmer dresses, braided hair with cute ribbons and sharp guitars that talked about failed dates, weird guys and the pleasure of mocking modern relations from the female perspective. A contemporary version of something that has always been denied to us: Indie made by women who do not allow license to laugh, scream, kick or finish before it begins. On the debut album, the Wet Leg It sounded like a relief: finally someone saying everything we always thought.
But now the thing has evolved. The ties were undone, the peasant skirts were in the past, and gave way to a slightly sporty version, MiU Miu Miu MiuS and Modern Looks, Pink Hair, discolored eyebrow and a fiercest stage presence than ever. Rhian Teasdale assumes the narrative control with an empowered, intense and theatrical posture, while Hester Chamber – Always more reserved, ”retreat elegantly, making room for tour musicians (and now official formation) shine like never before. The album talks about love, but in a way that doesn’t sound bread or naive.
