Various guests played Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne’s songs and solo career, but a composition of the classic metal group remained untouched
Villa Park Stadium, in the English city of Birmingham, received the farewell shows on Saturday, 5 Black Sabbath and from Ozzy Osbourne soil. Were the final attractions of a megaphostival called Back to the Beginning, with presentations still Metallica, Guns n ‘Roses, Tool, Alice in Chains, Slayer, Pantheramong many others.
Virtually all attractions played some Sabbath song – in the Ozzy era – or the solo career singer himself as a tribute. From the headlight of Heavy Metal, the guests performed since classics such as “Fairies Wear Boots”, “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath”, “Children of the Severe”, “Sweet Leaf” and “Changes” even less known lanes, such as “Hand of Doom”, “Junior’s Eyes”, “Johnny Blade” and “Wicked World”.
Of course, the biggest successes were reserved for Sabbath himself to execute at the end: “War Pigs”, “Nib”, “Iron Man” and “Paranoid”. But there is a very acclaimed song that did not enter anyone’s repertoire, either from the main attraction or who was at the opening.

It is about “Black Sabbath”track that baptizes and opens Black Sabbath’s debut album, released in 1970. At first, the band itself considered to play it, along with “Fairies Wear Boots”but both songs were discarded because, according to the guitarist Tony Iommiphysical limitations of the drummer Bill Ward – Away from tours since 2005 – would prevent good execution.
“Fairies Wear Boots” was remembered by Alice in Chains, but no one risked performing the song that names the band and the album considered the Heavy Metal Marco Zero as we know it. In a way, it is even a sign of respect, as other musicians seemed to know that they could not reproduce the dark and visceral tone of the original composition.
