Despite the commercial success of the 2007 album, singer of the American band makes negative notes about conducting the work
In 2007, by releasing their fourth studio album – which bears the band’s name and is also known as “Album Branco” – the Avenged Sevenfold obtained good commercial results. The work sold over one million copies over the years and has received a platinum certificate in United States.
However, none of this prevented the vocalist M. Shadows recently pointed out, in an interview with Ryan J. Downey (via Guitar.com), several errors made in the discretion of the disc. Not just the band, but for their team.
The singer, whose real name is Matt Sandersstarted complaining about choosing the first singles. According to him, the ideal would be to have highlighted “Afterlife” instead of “CRITICAL ACCLAIM” and “ALMOST EASY”.
M. Shadows, first, contextualized the case:
“I love the Tom Whalley (Former CEO da Warner Bros. that helped hire A7x in the early 2000s). I think he did amazing things for our career. He is still a close friend. But we brought him to listen to the white album (the namesake album), and thought (as a single): ‘Afterlife’no doubt, this is a huge song. This is a huge single. We played for Tom Whalley and he turned and said, ‘This is kind of Warped Tour (Itinerant punk rock festival), isn’t it? ‘
Then he explained:
“And then it simply took everyone in the room, everyone in the right -back, the right focus. You could see the change. So it all started to go to other paths that were clearly not the right move.”

The singles desired by Avenged Sevenfold
For the vocalist, it would be best to have bet on the songs “Afterlife” and “A Little Piece of Heaven”. The first even came out as a single later, but does not give way to M. Shadows I would like:
“If you really have a macro view, ‘Afterlife ‘ E ‘A Little Piece of Heaven ‘ They are the two that are on the top of that album. But then, when we finally arrived at ‘Afterlife ‘which was the fourth single, they cut the ground. It’s that thing: as if every wrong decision could completely spoil the album. And this song was already. “
White album reaction
The “white album” of Avenged Sevenfold ended up receiving mixed reviews. Even with good performance on the charts, it did not please the specialized criticism, nor members of the group itself, such as M. Shadows.
