Song released in 2017 has melancholy letter that many believed to be about the vocalist, something again denied by Mike Shinoda
One of the biggest mistakes in a portion of fans of Linkin Park It is to propagate that the lyrics of the final album with Chester Bennington, One More Light (2017), gave signs of what would happen to the singer. He took his own life in July of that year, two months after the album came out.
The mistake lies in something simple: Bennington has barely participated in the compositions is credited as co -author of only two of the 10 work tracks, “Heavy” and “Halfway Right”. Most of One More Light’s creation was under the responsibility of co-advisory and multi-instrumentalist Mike Shinodawith especially the guitarist Brad Delson and external collaborators. And, according to Shinoda reports, the lyrics are not even about Chester.
Still, misleading perception remained. And it reaches to the point that the current formation of the group has cut the song “One More Light”which names the 2017 album of their shows. The melancholy song will never be played, according to Mike Shinoda.

In an interview with The Guardian (via website Igor Miranda), the artist said it would be “strange” to perform it live and that other tracks fall into the same category. About this, he said:
“[Compusemos originalmente ‘One More Light’] For a woman from the label we worked with, who passed away. After the Chester died, the world thought it was about him. And that makes it too sad to touch it. ”
The real origin of Linkin Park’s “One More Light”
The employee of the label in question was Amy ZaretExecutive of Warner Bros Records deceased in 2015 due to cancer. Its composition is credited to Shinoda in partnership with EG White. In an interview with Kerrang!, At the time, he said:
“We had a friend who had worked for the record label for a long time and accompanied us many years ago. She started with radio promotion and basically took us to local radio in the Midwest US. It was promoted. At some point, I heard she had cancer-and suddenly she died. We knew that we had to write about what happened. Most important to do is connect with the people you love and remember that you care about them. ”
Tribute resignified to Chester Bennington
Three months after the death of Chester Bennington – and five after the album One More Light Having left – the song was released as a promotional single. The idea was to pay tribute to the singer. In a statement, Shinoda said at the time:
“‘One More Light’ It was composed with the intention of sending love to those who lost someone. Now we meet on the other side. In memories, works of art, videos and images, fans from around the world have connected with this song by seeing it as a declaration of love and support for the band and memory of our dear friend, Chester. We are immensely grateful. ”
