Joca opened a portal. Six years after the album Salvation is at risk: the joca showthe artist inaugurates a new stage, the result of a moment of transition in which he carries learning and expands the message of debut work. This Wednesday, 24, the musician released his second act: the album Cummantnow available on digital platforms.

“My first album portrays a moment of my life and comes with a very strong force of youth, of impetus of expansion. It talks a lot about desire. And I feel that Cummant It is an account of these processes of search, contact and discontent with the will to move ”, explains Joca the Rolling Stone Brazil.

The new work features a more adult and mature version of the artist. After the success of the first album and partnerships with names like Ana Electric Chicken, Sain, Uana and the band TuyoThe rapper learned to make better decisions and built a repertoire capable of reflecting his art and identity.

The search for itself has Niterói (RJ) as a starting and return point. In this scenario, Joca It addresses themes present in your life as a young, black and peripheral artist, sharing experiences and reflections on territory, collectivity, relationships and addictions.

As inspiration, Cummant It is born from the ancestry of a culture with various dimensions. “I feel that in Brazil we have a very, very powerful and very intense and uncontrollable force that arises from this meeting of African and indigenous cultures. And within super violent contexts, a way of surviving was through music, word, movement, food. This inspires me because I see that generations pass and this foundation remains alive.”

Joca It also assumes the musical direction of the project and addresses, in a unique and versatile way, all the aspects of its musical vocabulary. With beats ranging from the Miami Bass, Garage, House, Amapiano and the already known hip hop strands, such as Trap and Boom Bap, Mixtape has instruments from various Brazilian producers and Ebony, Tuyo, Luciane Dom, Jef Rodriguez, Amanda Sarmento and Luana Karoo Among the participation.

“In addition to adding to music specifically, that each of these people did with me, add to my artistic process for life, to understand how the other comes in a result that, in terms of platform, is also aligned with what I do. I feel that this process of composition, creation, production, is very intimate. Being contact with these artists in the studio, understanding how they work, is very entertaining.”

As an independent artist, Joca faced many challenges in the production of Cummant. “We live in a tight rope trying to understand how we can continue to act on independent music and art. And also stay. Many independent artists still need to do double journey, work on something else and then run their careers,” he says, while recalling that the difficulties for those who propose to question standards and encourage debate are even greater.

But, like every journey of maturity and self -knowledge, the challenges are accompanied by lessons. “I had to cling a lot to my faith, my self -care processes, my spirituality, to put my feet on the ground and keep doing what I believed I needed to reach the world. It’s a very strong process.”

The most interesting of the song is when each one can get from it a way to develop and apply reflections in the area of their own. I hope to be able to connect with people interested in building and questioning. Let’s get the wind together. ”
