Music Gilmour announces a new show in theaters and live album

The 2024 tour of David Gilmour Promoting the album Luck and Strange It lasted only seven weeks and went through few cities, which means that the vast majority of their fans didn’t have the opportunity to appreciate it. This will change on September 17, when the new movie of Gilmour’s show, Live at the Circus Maximus, Romereach theaters and IMAX screens around the world.

For the release in Blu-ray/DVD/CD on October 17, Live at the Circus Maximus, Rome will be accompanied by a second material that addresses the tour more broadly, The Luck and Strange Concerts. It is a compilation of 23 songs from the entire Luck and Strange tour. Check out a preview of “Sorrow”music of Pink Floyd.

The package in this case includes a 24 -page book. And for more dedicated fans, there is also a superluxurious box with 11 albums, a 120-page book, a sticker card, two post cards and a poster.

The tour Luck and Strange It was the first time that Gilmour has enacted since 2016. He has returned with a practically new band and a repertoire focused mainly on solo songs and tracks of his time as leader of Pink Floyd. Before the tour, he initially considered the idea of not playing anything from the years of Roger Waters. However, he changed his mind.

“You have to wake up to reality from time to time,” he told Rolling Stone USA in August 2024. “I think I’ll play one or two of that time, but it seems like it was so long. I know people love it, and I love to touch them. ‘Wish You Were Here’of course. And some of the things that started with me at least. ”

Of the Waters era, besides “Wish You Were Were”the show also had “Breathe (in the air)”, “Team”, “Fat Old Sun”, “The Great Gig in the Sky” and “Comfortably Numb”. By promoting the tour, he made it clear once again that any kind of reunion with Waters on stage is simply impossible at this time. “No way,” Gilmour told The Guardian. “I often avoid people who actively support genocidal and autocratic dictators like Putin and Maduro. Nothing would make me share the stage with someone who thinks this kind of treatment to women and the LGBTQIA+ community is acceptable.”

The tour Luck and Strange It was also the first time that Gilmour took his daughter Romany to the road. She did back vocals for much of the show and took the lead in a beautiful interpretation of “Between Two Points”from the British indie pop duo Montgolfier Brothers. Music is also a highlight of the album Luck and Strange.

“She must have heard music once or twice in our playlists, but in fact she didn’t know her,” Gilmour told Rolling Stone. “I just gave her the letter on a piece of paper and put her in front of the microphone. She is a real professional with the microphone since she was three years old. And basically, the vocal you hear in this track is her first take to the end.”
