Music Petrobras Symphony celebrates 50 years with special tour in SP

In 2025, the Petrobras Symphonic Orchestra Celebrates 50 years of history. And to celebrate the date so striking, it has prepared a special program that mixes classics and innovations, always guided by the vocation for good music.

On the first weekend of August, the city of São Paulo receives two memorable concerts, which present the diversified repertoire and the vocation of the orchestra to merge the scholar and the popular with the same mastery.

The first concert of the series, titled Classic concertoccurs on August 2, Saturday, at 20h, at the Artistic Culture Theater, and will be governed by Maestro Isaac Karabtchevsky. The presentation will feature works by two great composers: Rossini and Tchaikovskypromising to thrill the public with virtuosity and intensity.

The next day, August 3, Sunday, at 14h, the conductor Felipe Prazeres assumes the direction of Multiplayer concerta show that mixes the grandeur of the soundtracks of the largest video games with orchestral arrangements. With the strength of a symphonic orchestra, the concert celebrates pop culture, bringing hits from games like Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Sonic, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombatand many others.

Classic concert

Although the term “classic” is associated with all concert music, the initiative of the Petrobras Symphony Orchestra aims to go beyond European classicism and highlight diversity of styles and expressions throughout history. One example is Rossini’s opera La Gazza Ladra.

“It is one of the rare moments when the composer imprints a dramatic character to his music, adding layers of intensity, as in the writing for Caixa-Clara, which gains unusual protagonism. Tchaikovsky symphony, which ends the program, represents, in the instrumental universe, the same emotional and theatrical burden that Rossini eternalized in the vocal universe. In addition, the concert celebrates the music of Brazilian games, with unpublished arrangements created by Antonio Teolione of the pioneers of video game music in Brazil. Teoliinternationally recognized, it offers the public a new version of its compositions, specially adapted for this presentation.

After the performances in São Paulo, the 2025 tour of the Petrobras Symphony Orchestra goes to Porto Alegre, Novo Hamburgo, Blumenau and Florianópolis. With this stage in the south of the country, the tour ends its season with a series of special concerts, reaffirming its commitment to expand access to concert music to audiences of all generations.
