Music 89 years old, Buddy Guy releases album that celebrates the Blues of Chicago

Ain’t Done With The Blues arrives shortly after the guitarist’s participation in the acclaimed film sinners and features 18 tracks, as well as special collaborations

The legendary guitarist Buddy GuyOne of the biggest icons in Blues celebrated the 89th anniversary with the release of a new album. Available on streaming platforms on July 30, Ain’t Done with the Blues Not only celebrates the artist’s long journey in music, but also reaffirms his commitment to preserving the genre that has consecrated him throughout his career.

The news comes shortly after the guitarist’s participation in the acclaimed film Sinners (2025), from Ryan Cooglerand features 18 tracks distributed on two albums. Ain’t Done with the Blues has special collaborations of big names in rock and blues, as Joe Walsh, Peter Frampton, Joe Bonamassa and The Blind Boys of Alabama. Tom Hambridge was the production in charge.

With the album and participation in the movie, Buddy Guy fulfills a request from the icons BB King and MUDDY WATERS: Preserve Blues. “I knew them and before they died they said to me, ‘Dude, if you live more than me, try to keep Blues alive.’

The musician also stresses that while the genre has lost some of his radio space, his presence in streaming movies and platforms has ensured that he remains relevant to young audiences. “Blues will never die, it will remain alive until those who want to hear and preserve,” he said Guy.

In addition to the launch of Ain’t Done with the Blues, Buddy Guy continues to run the United States with the Damn Right Encore Tour In 2025, although it decreased the amount of live performances.

In 2023, Buddy Guy stamped the cover of Special edition Best of Blues and Rock of Rolling Stone Brazil. “The first time I was there, I was surprised a lot, because Brazilians knew my music. I knew I had very loving people, but I didn’t imagine so much affection. So I fell in love. I love Brazil,” he said at the time.
