National rap day is celebrated on August 6 and honors the genre responsible for inspiring transforming different generations in the country
This Wednesday, August 6, the National rap day. Institutionalized in 2008, the date was created to honor and strengthen the genre responsible for portraying daily life and promoting class consciousness, as well as inspiring people of different realities and generations.
Born in the United States from African and Jamaican musical influences, rap arrived in Brazil especially in the 1980s and found a fertile ground to create solid foundations in the country’s culture. Therefore, references from national rap remembered the date on Wednesday.
“Rap is my academic background, gave me discernment, served as a dialogue that was absent for a young man from the periphery, a tool for fighting racism, a rescue of identity and also a business,” he said Rael. “I gave me livelihood, respect and autonomy. The importance of rap is to be this open microphone for those who want to arrive with your story, your truth, to be who you want to be and that’s amazing. The rest is a consequence.”
Another reference of the genre, Zudizilla also celebrated the date. “The day of national rap could fall on the same date as Father’s Day, as they are so close to each other and that, so often, rap has supplied this demand to educate, advise, raise self -esteem and warn about the ills of a world that has become accustomed to injustices,” he said. “I would like to thank the warriors of yore, who paved the way and managed to institute through their love, a date for us to celebrate what accompanies us every day. Thank you, national rap, long life and keep saving lives!”
Representing the essential female voice to make hip hop an even more democratic genre, Layza He made a point of emphasizing that, in addition, rap is a tool for transformation and dream come true.
“I didn’t choose the rap – it was he who chose me. I didn’t even know who I was to God and life show me, through rap who I really always went. More than music, rap is identity, resistance and healing. He gave me self -esteem, courage and direction. He reconnected with my voice, with my story and my mission. One. My revolution is my rhyme. ”
Winner of Bet Awards 2025, Flourish He echoed the celebration. “I am happy to be part of a movement that taught me so much and I take this responsibility to actually make a difference and occupy with great respect the place that was given to me.”
Finally, Tonyyymonnominated for award Sabotage 2022 in the MC category, he stressed that rap is a learning space. “There was no person or tool that taught me more like national rap, becoming a person able to understand the world in a broader way. Even because when we talk about rap, we talk about a tangle of things that accompanies him: the ideas, relationships, the movement. And all this ecosystem shaped my trajectory to seek to be an ever better, conscious and more creative man.”
