Music music of musicians leaves Cradle of Filth claiming low pay after show in SP

Keyboardist and singer Zoë Marie Federoff left the group, while her husband, guitarist Marek “Ashok” Smerda, was fired; Both made public criticism

Two members of CRADLE OF FILTHlong -lived metal band formed in England, they left the group abruptly amid their current tour of Latin America. Both alleged low compensation, “unprofessional behavior” and a “foolish” collaboration with Ed Sheeran.

The keyboardist and vocalist Zoë M. Federoffmember since 2022, announced his departure from the band on Sunday, 24, shortly after a show in Sao Paulo the day before. She anticipated that her husband, guitarist and member since 2014 Marek “Ashok” Smerdawould leave the group after the end of the Latin American tour-started last week in Brazil and scheduled to last until the end of September, with passages in Argentina (country where Ashok touched with former colleagues), Uruguay, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala and Mexico.

In all, there are more than 20 shows on the continent. They are all maintained, according to the singer and leader Dani Filthwho also spoke about the case and, on Tuesday, 26, fired Ashok after he confirmed his intention to leave and repeated criticism from his wife to the singer and his entrepreneurs.

Marek

Although fans initially speculate that a break in Federoff’s marriage and Smerda was to blame for his sudden exits, Federoff clarified on social networks:

“Ashok is not cheating on me. Although the turbulence of being in the band has affected us, we are still sure we love. Please be kind to my husband. He is a good man. We were already planning to leave the band later this year. Certain events accelerated it for me.”

In another acid publication on networks (via Igor Miranda website), Federoff exposed the contract to which she and Ashok would have to sign to remain. The agreement offered the first increase in 7 years of work, according to her, and established the following values:

  • 200 pounds (about $ 1,400) per day of work with the band (studio, show, rehearsal or any other activity);
  • 150 pounds (about $ 1,000) per day of travel;
  • 25 pounds (R $ 183) of daily fixed by exclusivity;
  • 1,000 pounds (R $ 7,300) annual by image right.

Federoff stated:

“We went out because we were being used and receiving less than the cost of living, the environment is toxic and threatening, and the price it was having in our lives and in our marriage was too big. The impact on our health led me to have an abortion of our first pregnancy in tour. We chose to go out to save us and create a better future for our family. […] We all know the guy who says that ‘all’ his ex are crazy – are you sure they are all? Or the problem may be you, more than 40 people later [nota: em referência às várias mudanças de formação da banda ao longo das décadas]?

Dani Filth issued a statement about the resignation of Ashok “with immediate effect” after the guitarist initially told fans that he would leave the group after the current South American tour. The hired musician – and now dismissed – said:

“We just don’t feel that Cradle can guarantee our future and, in fact, it gets in the way. Among other reasons, it’s a lot of work for a relatively low salary, stress is quite high and it’s been a while since we haven’t felt that this band really prioritize/cares about the members. It was years of antiprofessional behavior of people above us who led us to our decision.”

Partnership with Ed Sheeran should not leave

Ashok also cited a rumor of years related to a partnership between Cradle of Filth and Ed Sheeran, an English pop singer who claims to love the extreme metal group. Dani Filth said earlier this year that the collaborative track was recorded, but she did not appear on her new album, The Screaming of the Valkyries.

The guitarist said:

“I also asked all my compositions to be removed from the next releases, including collaboration with Ed Sheeran. This song seems to me a silly clown to me right now – first it was a charity single for children, then a profitable single, then I would enter the next album, and now, who knows what it will be?

CRADLE OF FILTH CONTINUITY

The departure of the two members coincided with the band’s Latin American tour, which continues as planned. Zoë Marie Federoff gave way to Kelsey Peterswhile ashok will not be replaced at the moment – the guitarist Donny Burbage will be the only one in the instrument. Dani Filth states:

“Despite all attempts to defame and illegally make the band unfeasible, Cradle of Filth will not cancel any of our shows in South America, although fans have to tolerate the fact that we are a band with only one live guitarist, of course, until Ashok’s temporary replacement comes to join the tour in a few days.”
