The story starts from a simple premise: a surfer is kidnapped by a shark -obsessed killer and held hostage to a boat at the mercy of a grotesque destination. The differential is precisely in the fusion of the two worlds – the sea as a stage of horror and the criminal as a motor of tension. However, despite what may seem like the prince, it is not the sharks that occupy the center of fear. They appear at punctual times, almost as accessories of the villain’s cruelty, reinforcing that the true predator is on land.

This role is up to Jai Courtney (Suicide squad), who lives the serial killer with a charismatic and at the same time repulsive presence. His villain has caricatured features, but can attach his attention and shape a movie that, without him, would have much less impact. On the other side, HASSIE HARRISON (Yellowstone) faces the challenge of being the Final Girland does it with energy: it is resistant, stubborn and capable of keeping the audience engaged even in repeated escape attempts that sometimes make the narrative walk in circles.

The feature, however, does not escape its limitations. The script insists on obvious and predictable twisting solutions that reduce the impact of the premise, wasting the chance to more creatively explore the presence of sharks and the villain’s sadism. Byrne It pays part of this with its driving, characteristic of his previous works, balancing moments of dark humor with graphic violence, knowing what to show and when to show, making good use of the closer plans to afflict the audience.

In short, the results of the actions are never memorable, but Byrne Nor does it let the rhythm fall into monotony. In the end, it is neither the sea nor the sharks that dictate the tension, but the grotesque figure of the killer.
