Legendary American Indie Rock make a unique presentation at Cine Joia as Sideshow of Balaclava Fest
The American trio Yo La Tengo It will hold an acoustic presentation on November 10 at Cine Joia, in São Paulo. The intimate show is a sideshow of Balaclava Fest and will offer unique versions of the band’s repertoire in stripped format.
The presentation takes place one day after the main show at Balaclava Festscheduled for November 9 at Tokio Marine Hall. The festival also has Stereolab, GORDIE GREEP, FCuwers, Young atheists, GAB FERREIRA and Walfredo in search of symbiosis.
Tickets are available online through the Ingress website. Residents of Sao Paulo can buy without fee at Takkø Café, in Vila Buarque, official physical point of sale.
Graduated in 1984 in Hoboken, New Jersey, the Yo La Tengo It is composed of the guitarist Ira kaplanthe drummer Georgia Hubley and the bassist James McNew (Since 1991). With over four decades of career, the band is one of the most influential of American alternative rock.
The group moves between smooth folk, atmospheric jams, electronic experiments and guitar explosions. Your influences range from Velvet underground to the Kinksgoing through Mission of Burma and The cleanresulting in an eclectic sound that can jump between various styles within the same album.
The discography includes 17 critics -acclaimed studio albums. Works such as PAINFUL (1993), Electr-o- (1995), I can Hear the Heart Beating As One (1997) and And then nothing turned its inside-out (2000) established the band as a reference in Indie Rock. The most recent album, This Stupid World (2023), maintains the tradition of critical experimentation and acclamation.
The acoustic show at Cine Joia will be a rare opportunity to see Yo La Tengo In intimate format, revealing nuances of compositions that can go unnoticed in conventional presentations.
