After three decades of meticulous research, Brazilian Marcelo Fróes was able to reveal to the world – and in particular Sean Lennon, son of John Lennon – a little known chapter in the history of the Beatles. His work brought to light the existence of “Rock Peace”, an instrumental song recorded in London during the sessions of Billy Preston’s solo album, pianist and dear friend of the Beatles.

The greatest curiosity lies in the fact that the track would have been originally released as John Lennon’s first single soloist, even before the classic “give peace a possibility”.

The session that generated “Rock Peace” presented legendary musicians: George Harrison, another ex Beatle, Eric Clapton on guitar and Ginger Baker on drums, in a real rock star meeting. The album was pressed, with cover, and was photographed in the hands of Lennon by Luiz Garrido, Brazilian photojournalist. However, the official launch has never occurred; The original vinyl has been forgotten for years, without reaching the public or being officially advertised.

The unusual destination of the track proved to be only decades later, when it appeared as bonus material in the edition of the 50th anniversary of All Things Must Pass by George Harrison, this time renamed “Remember Jeep”.

The case raised interrogations: why was the track never been released and why was it hidden in the Harrison archives? Marcelo Fróes’ research work was fundamental to connect these pieces of history, allowing Lennon’s fans and descendants to have a rare and significant record.

The revelation of the “Rock Peace” track is a gift for the beatles fans and pop culture scholars, reaffirming the importance of keeping the memory of great artists and events that have modeled the music of the world alive. Therefore, a forgotten story obtains a new meaning, connecting the generations and renewing the charm of the inheritance of the Beatles.
