Piseiro singer opens the premiere of the national version of the internationally renowned program
The musical phenomenon Tiny Desk Brazil premieres this Tuesday, 7th, at 11am, on YouTube. To launch the long-awaited first season, we chose João Gomessinger and composer from Pernambuco consolidated as a big name in piseiro and contemporary northeastern music.
The artist celebrated his participation with good humor: “On the day of recording the Tiny Desk Brazila fan asked me when leaving the hotel what I came to do in São Paulo and I replied: ‘I’m going there, to make history!’”. In his performance at the national table, he will perform classics from his career, such as “I Have the Password” and “Dengo”as well as songs like “Goddess of Itamaracá”.
Tiny Desk Brazil is an initiative of Anonymous Content Brazil in partnership with the YouTube Brazil. The curatorship is signed by Anonymous Content and Amabisunder the artistic supervision of her own NPR. Two initial seasons with five episodes each were confirmed, released weekly on Tuesdays at 11am (Brasília time).
Following the tradition of the original format, the recordings take place in the intimate environment of the Google in São Paulo, seeking “organic volumes of voices and instruments”. For this debut, João Gomeswhich stood out in 2025 with the project Sunday (made in partnership with Jota.pê and Master), presents itself with an unprecedented line-up of seven musicians, including Jeovanny Accordion Player (accordion), Michael Pipoquinha (low) and Whip (guitar).
Brazil is only the third country in the world to have its own version of Tiny Desk outside of United States. In its 17 years of history, the original format Tiny Desk Concerts has already shown more than a thousand shows on its official account YouTuberacking up over 3.5 billion views globally. The foreign program has already featured artists such as Adele, Tyler, The Creator, Sabrina Carpenter and the Brazilians Your Jorge, Luiza Brina and Liniker.
