Episode celebrates the strength of Brazilian inventive music curated by NPR, Anonymous Content and Amabis
THE Tiny Desk Brazil launches, this Tuesday, 14th, at 11am, its second episode, bringing together Metá Metá and Black Leo in an unprecedented meeting. The presentation will air on YouTube and reinforces the proposal of the Brazilian version of the program to celebrate the diversity and creative strength of the national music scene.
Recognized as one of the most expressive trios in contemporary music, the Metá Metá (formed by Juçara Marçal, Kiko Dinucci and Thiago France) brings to the Tiny Desk its unique fusion of Brazilian rhythms, jazz and African music. The group, winner of the APCA Award and praised by vehicles such as The Guardian and The Wirehas already been to festivals such as Primavera Sound, Roskilde and Transmusicalesin addition to sharing the stage with Kraftwerk and Nick Cave.
The guest Black Leofrom Maranhão and a central figure in Brazilian experimental music, has twelve albums and stints on international stages such as Lincoln Center (New York), Counterflows Festival (Glasgow) and Le Guess Who (Utrecht). “With Kiko, Juçara and Thiago I’ve enjoyed wonderful moments on stages and records, but never with all of them at the same time, in one of the greatest Brazilian bands of all time. For me it was a glory!”, stated the artist about the collaboration.
