The band has not officially announced the release of any new music. Earlier this month, Foo Fighters released a live album, Are Playing Where??? Vol. Ivia Bandcamp. It features songs recorded at the group’s first live shows in over a year, which took place in September in San Luis Obispo, California; Santa Ana, California; Washington, DC; and New Haven, Connecticut.
“Pay what you want — proceeds go to local charities fighting food insecurity in the four cities where the shows took place, so give what you can,” the band wrote of the six-song release. “And while you’re there, check out and support other artists. Discover something new or rediscover some old favorites.”
The live album followed an AI-assisted teaser video the band shared on YouTube. The short video ended with the words: “Stay tuned… there’s more to come”! At the beginning of this year, Foo Fighters released his first new song since But Here We Are (2023): the new track “Today’s Song” and a cover of “I Don’t Wanna Hear It” of Minor Threat.
Although it is not clear what Foo Fighters are plotting, fans are enjoying the speculation. Some have suggested that Foo Fighters are heading to Brazil thanks to the bird colors in their new teaser, while others are hoping for a full tour. The band’s recent performances marked the debut of their new drummer Ilan Rubinwho joined the band this summer after the Foos separated from Josh Freesewho had taken over following the 2022 death of longtime drummer Taylor Hawkins. Grohl presented Rubin from the stage of Fremont Theater of San Luis Obispo, Californiawith a capacity of 900 people, last month, saying: “Everyone else has already said it. I finally have the opportunity to say, ‘Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome…’ The most badass son of a bitch, Ilan Rubinis playing the drums on Foo Fighters now. It’s official. You can stamp your passport.”
