During the outburst, the singer recalled the beginning of the collaboration with the bassist, again in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. He said he met Rivers at a bar in town and was impressed to see him play. “I thought, ‘Oh my God, this guy is incredible.’ I couldn’t feel anything but Sam, just his gift,” she said.
Durst pointed out that his colleague was the first to embark on the idea of Limp Bizkit, in the 1990s, when the group was starting to shape its sound. “We shared an affinity, a love for grunge. We were totally on the same page,” he recalled.
The band’s friend said Rivers’ art will live on. “He had the ability to bring out a beautiful sadness from underneath that I had never felt. His music and his gift will continue to bear fruit. I love this guy so much,” she concluded.
Sam Rivers had already left Limp Bizkit and was dealing with liver problems.
