Filmmaker comments on the strength of the Invocation of Ma horror universe and leaves the way open for new stories linked to the Warrens
The director Michael Chaves recently commented on the future of the franchise Conjuring following the success of the fourth film, which has already surpassed US$500 million at the global box office. In an interview with the ComicBook portal, the filmmaker spoke about the impact of the new chapter and reflected on what could come next for the story of Ed and Lorraine Warrenplayed by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga.
“It was a huge privilege to work in this universe. Each film is a different challenge, and seeing the public react so well shows how much these stories still connect with people”, he said Keys.
Asked about the possibility of new films, the director highlighted that the universe of Invocation of Mal still have many possibilities to explore. In addition to the main plots, derivative productions such as Annabelle and The Nun remain in development — and a TV series centered on Lorraine and Ed is also in the studio’s plans.
“These characters and this world have their own strength. There is always room to discover new mysteries”, added the filmmaker.
What is the story of The Conjuring: The Last Ritual?
In the new, Ed and Lorraine Warren are hired to investigate their most difficult paranormal case yet. On the eve of retiring, the couple is sought out by the Smurl family, who faced a violent spirit in 1986, in Pennsylvania, United States.
In addition to Wilson and Farmiga, The Conjuring: The Last Ritual still has Mia Tomlinson (The Lost Kingdom of Pirates) as Judy Warrendaughter of Ed and Lorraineand Ben Hardy (X-Men: Apocalypse) as her boyfriend, Tony Spera.
Steve Coulter (She-Hulk: Defender of Heroes) returns as Father Gordonand the companies of Rebecca Calder (The House of the Dragon), Elliot Cowan (Alexander), Kíla Lord Cassidy (The Miracle), Beau Gadsdon (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), John Brotherton (Fuller House) and Shannon Kook (The 100).

Written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick and directed by Michael Chaveswho return to their duties after working in The Conjuring 3: The Demon’s Order (2021), The Conjuring: The Last Ritual is available in the Prime Video store for purchase, for R$59.90, and rental, for R$49.90.
