Sony Pictures Entertainment’s next feature The invitation It calls itself a horror movie … and it certainly is. But the label doesn’t tell the full story presented by co-writer and director Jessica M. Thompson. Those who see the film in theaters will discover a hint of gothic romanticism, like game of Thrones With Nathalie Emmanuel she embarks on a journey across the pond to attend a mysterious wedding and falls in love with handsome Thomas Doherty.
I started getting an indication that The invitation was fighting for something out of the ordinary and beyond the insinuation of its packaging when Nathalie Emmanuel’s character Evie sported a t-shirt in one of the first scenes of the popular Starz show foreign . Fans of this show, and other programs like this one – know that this is really a historical drama series, but also embrace time travel and fantasy science fiction, taking your story to new heights. So when foreign came the mention, I started expecting another shoe to fall off. And as Emmanuel told me on a recent press day, it was all intentional. So are the costume choices made during the film.
Evie becomes a lavish portrait of the Renaissance over the course of the film. Some of these may have been invented by Thomas Doherty’s character Walter. The rest is about Evie taking control of her situation, as Emmanuel tells us:
I think when we meet Evie, she has a very different thrift shop, artistic, colorful, you know, things that she collected on her travels and that her mother gave her. She is very creative in her way. And then even just having the Outlander culture reference on her shirt gives you an idea of who she is and the things she likes. It’s wonderful. It’s almost like a true expression of her personality, through her clothes.
The invitation It starts with Evie in New York, starting to open a Pandora’s box involving her ancestors through a process similar to 23 and Me. Her genetic test results point to her in a family she didn’t know she had in the UK, so he ventures into a family wedding organized with his “parents” to get to know his family better.
Nathalie Emmanuel goes on to explain that as Evie’s journey progresses and she finds herself controlled by these new family members, the clothing choices made in The invitation reflect this too. Emmanuel tells Gossipify:
Its appearance becomes much more uniform, much more correct and traditional, in a way. Conventional, for its universe, its traditions and its culture. It is received as this very generous gift. But of course it’s to try and turn her into something she’s not that good at.
And that’s before you even hit the hook The invitation which, if you don’t already know, has nothing to do with time travel or gothic romance. So, if you want to see it intact, stop reading it online and go to the cinema to see it. If you are a great admirer of Nathalie Emmanuel, be it for game of Thrones This is his career in Fast & Furious movie We have a list of his upcoming films . And you know the invitation belongs to our list of horror movie coming soon landing in multiplexes this year, so bookmark it and stay up to date.
