While in any show with a large audience there is a large movement of vehicles, private individuals, taxis and car apps around the venue, in the case of the city of Rock the nearby streets will be closed.

See below how to get to Rock in Rio and how much transportation options cost.

What are the transportation options and how much they cost

Public transport will not serve the public at the event: according to MOBI-Rio, which operates the BRT-Rio lines, the city hall has authorized the organizers of Rock in Rio to provide a bus rental service (Special Service Rock Express) and use the BRT channel, which won’t transport you to the City of Rock. So BRT is not an option.

Rock Express

The Rock Express will make the shortest transfer, from the OceĂ¢nico and Alvorada metro terminals, going back and forth to Parque OlĂmpico / Cidade do Rock Terminal on the BRT route, which would normally cost R $ 4.05, but priced at R $ 22.00, to serve the greatest volume of passengers. The Rock Express will depart every day of the festival, from 12:00 to 5:00 in the morning.

Purchases can be made via bank slip, Pix and credit cards. The ticket is digital, except for the mobile phone, so be careful not to lose your device or run out of battery.

Rio Metro and additions

Those who are about to take the subway to do the integration have to count the subway fare of R $ 6.50. If you have a Giro metro card, you can top up it via the Giro app or picpay. Also, those who have to pay by mobile phone can use this option at the subway turnstiles.

Those who will also take a municipal or intercity bus can use the Riocard card to get a discount on the supplement.

During the days of the festival, the Jardim Oceanico station will be open for the entry and exit of passengers 24 hours a day. More information on metro site.

First class

The organization will also provide the so-called “first class” transport, a bus for those who want to go directly from one of the boarding points distributed throughout the city to the City of Rock.

The price is R $ 125.00 and departure points include GaleĂ£o Airport, Novo Rio Bus Station and some shopping malls, among others. At the time of purchase, the interested party chooses the departure time, which has a tolerance of only 5 minutes, according to the organization.

It is not necessary to schedule the return. See here boarding points and see if this is the best option for you.

Direct departure from Sao Paulo for the City of the Rock

For those who go to Rio only for concerts, the organization has made available the Busup, a bus that leaves from certain points in the city of Sao Paulo or other cities in the metropolitan region directly to the City of Rock. Busup returns an hour after the last show of the day ends and the price is R $ 349.

Going from SP to Rio by bus is a money-saving option

Buses running from TietĂª bus station in Sao Paulo to Rio de Janeiro bus station have an average price between R $ 150 and R $ 200, one way. This is a much cheaper option than air travel. Round-trip tickets from Congonhas Airport to GalĂ£o or Santos Dumont, round trip on the 2nd, cost approximately R $ 1,000 (values consulted on 31/08).

Plus, those who go on a one-day show and won’t need to stay in Rio de Janeiro will save a lot on accommodation, considering the hotels are at peak season prices.

The impact of Rock in Rio on the city’s economy

According to the organizers of the event, this edition of Rock in Rio has generated 28,000 jobs, ranging from the team directly involved in the production of the show to those involved in structuring the park, such as assembly, cleaning, among others.
