Among the special appearances on the tracklist, names like Cardi B, Khalid, Ty Dolla $ign and Saweetie should be recognized by listeners all over the world, while collaborations with Kevin O Chris and Papatinho, in addition to vocals from Mr. Catra, are indicative that the artist remains faithful to her Brazilian origins.

“I’ve been working on this record for about 3 years. The album already had another name, another face. But it’s always been a reflection of who I am as an artist. I’m happy with the result we got today and finally being able to release it in full.” celebrates the singer, who has been working on the project since 2019. Initially, the record would be called “Girl From Rio”, but the change to the definitive title came to better reflect the changes that have taken place in Anitta’s personal and artistic life.

the cover of “Versions of Me”, who dialogues with the different versions of Anitta throughout her career and her power of adaptation, has Maxime Quoilin (who has collaborated with Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, among others) in the creative direction. The photography is by Jacob Webster, who has photos of Doja Cat, Drake, Megan Thee Stallion, Normani and Chloe Bailey under his belt.

The new album has songs sung in Portuguese, Spanish and English, incorporating sound elements such as: funk carioca, reggaeton, pop rock, electronic music, Bahian pagodão, trap, rap and many others. “‘Versions of Me’ is a trilingual album, with multicultural and diverse references. In this project I don’t try to embrace the world, but embrace all my facets”, she explains.

This album represents me on many levels, many layers. There are, yes, the sounds of Brazil, like funk and pagodão, which are part of my origins. But there are also references that formed my musical taste, like hip hop and pop, sounds that are global. I have fun, I let go and I feel very inspired by all these ‘versions’ of me”.

In addition to the sound diversity, the themes explored in the tracklist are also varied: the dancing electropop of “I’d Rather Have Sex”, for example, is a portrait of the sexually free and determined woman that Anitta is. Meanwhile, slower moments like “Love Me, Love Me” reveal the singer’s most vulnerable side, which was rarely revealed to the public.
