Vitor Hugo Barrionuevo Monteiro, 25, born and raised on Canal 5, in Santos, began his career in audiovisual in 2016, always with one goal: to involve funk in his work and break the stereotypes that still exist regarding the genre . It has been like this since the beginning of its trajectory, even in the midst of difficulties.

When he started with music production in Santos, Vitor also had the help of friends, who lent him some equipment. Initially, the young man recorded in the palm of his hand the famous medleys with the Baixada MCs. Today the Veagá Filmes YouTube channel, with more than 50 thousand subscribers, already has videos with millions of views and promises to increase even more.

For Run view, the young producer says that from an early age, between the ages of 9 and 10, he had the idea that Baixada Santista was the birthplace of ostentation funk. For him, despite the changes the genre has undergone over the years, it is still very much present in the lives of young people there.

Veagá Filmes is another production company with the aim of regaining the visibility that funk once had on the coast of São Paulo. Another goal is to support artists who do not yet have the infrastructure or financial resources to make their music videos, not only from funk, but from other musical genres as well.

“I serve even the humblest audience that doesn’t have this support. I want to praise these MCs, I want to strengthen the visibility of the music here at the Baixada. To create an exclusive music channel for the artists of the coast ”, commented Vitor Hugo, who also talks about his difficulties until the creation of his production company.

“I worked in a bicycle shop, I was a designer, I worked in a video editor. There was a whole process. The welcome of the family, struggling with the prejudice that still exists with funk, unfortunately. Today I live from this, I support my family with funk, with music, ”she revealed.

In 2021 it was possible to invest in the production company and buy its first equipment, but before even having its own camera, it was already doing projects with famous MCs such as Keké, Bó do Catarina, Dinho da VP and many others. One of his latest hits was the song “Trajetórias” (Look under)which already has half a million views on its YouTube channel and has brought together several talents from the Baixada region.

One of the most extraordinary works of his career, according to Vitor Hugo, was the production of the latest video clip of the duo of MC Cláudio and Ratinho on his channel. Cláudio died in December 2021, a victim of cancer, at the age of 42. For Vitor, a “rewarding job. Cláudio was very expensive and one of the pioneers of funk ostentation here in Baixada ”.
