Singer is confirmed attraction of Rolling Stone Novas Vozes, show that takes place this Wednesday (20) in São Paulo

For Antonia Morais, writing is a therapeutic process. At least, that’s how she described her composition to the Rolling Stone Brazil. In addition, she recalled the production of her previous albums and talked about the women who influence her music.

Lady Gaga she is an interpreter, a composer, a very powerful artist. And she is strange, she embraces her strangeness, and she makes herself vulnerable, she is very strong at the same time. THE Beyonceshe is a perfection and assertiveness machine, and she is totally boss. And then there’s the anitaother bossanother boss from her business, from her business… there are several other women that I think are amazing”, says Antonia.

All this admiration for women in music, however, is just one side of Antonia’s music, which aimed at a man – her father, the musician Orlando Morais – for the production of odd 60. On the album, her daughter’s tribute to Orlando’s 60th birthday, she rescues her father’s compositions, songs like “Sewing”.

“I feel that in miracles(her 2015 album) I did a more skittish poetry, something more in English, I wasn’t feeling ready yet to show my compositions in Portuguese. And there Lucia 20.20(2020) was when I felt ready to say ‘well, okay, now I’m going to show my compositions in Portuguese’. But I’m still in that place of understanding my way of writing”, reflected Antonia.

The comings and goings, according to her, were what brought her to the place she is now, with her consolidated role in music:

“I needed to go through until I found myself, until I understood what my life purpose was. My essence is starting to make sense to me, because before things were very confusing, and when you’re confused, you do things that you often don’t. know”, reflected Antonia. “I found myself in my music, I feel like that’s really what I’ve always wanted to do, that I’ve always done it, somehow, and that I really don’t know why I haven’t done it before. It’s crazy because I’m already on my own. third album, it’s a lot when you think about it, you know? Like ‘Man, that’s crazy!’ I made more albums than soap operas. That means something, right?!”

Antonia is the project’s guest of the week Rolling Stone New Voiceswhich wins a new edition this Wednesday (20), the eve of a holiday, in Blue Note SP. On stage, she arrives with the selected compositions for the album Ímpar 60, a tribute to her father Orlando’s 60th birthday. THE Rolling Stone BrazilOrlando commented on his daughter’s choice for the new album:

“When she recorded the song ‘Sewing,’ for example, it was impressive to me. It’s a completely new reading, a wisdom about those lyrics. And that was done years ago, 30 years ago I did that song I think, and I did for a lady who lived on my parents’ farm, and for Antonia to record it was a huge honor for me. She is very brave, she knows what she wants and she is not afraid.”
