With a dance at Coachella 2022, Anitta fulfills her promise to take funk to the world

There was funk, there was pop, there was Brazilian favela on stage Coachella. Expectations were high for the first Brazilian to be among the main attractions of the Californian festival – and anita did not disappoint. With a packed audience, the carioca from Honório Gurgel fulfilled her promise to take funk to palm springs this Friday evening, the 15th.

And she took it further: her performance was a tasting menu of the singer’s career, a potpourri of herself in its various versions. In her own way, she fulfilled the promise she had made many times before, to take funk carioca to the world.

The show began with a visual video presentation. Anitta entered the stage on a motorcycle and very well accompanied: for the kick-off with ‘Different Wave’she invited none other than Snoop Dogg, partner in the recording, with whom he performed the surprise track. Following, the stage filled with dancers for the enveloping ‘I like it’.

Saweetie was the next guest of the show, taking to the stage a very faithful version of ‘Faking Love’. The response of the festival’s audience – sometimes a bit paradão, for Brazilian parameters – came immediately in one of the most celebrated points of the performance.

In a race against the clock to show as much as possible, the presentation still had time for a capoeira performance for the audience of palm springs, the break for a quick change of looks. on the way back, anita would deliver a daring performance of ‘Envolver’, his global hit and album success Versions of Me, album released last Tuesday (12). Once again, the singer aimed to serve a moment to the faithful audience, with the right to a version of the choreography on the festival stage. The step on the floor, of course, could not be missed.

The performance was part of Anitta’s ‘international’ block, with the singer’s hits from the Versions of Me. Among the tracks of this moment, we highlight the entry of ‘Girl From Rio’ – here, accompanied by a delicate performance of ‘Garota de Ipanema’, Tom Jobim’s classic, in good Portuguese.

Breathing in, it was time to get back to the ground and take the favela to California, as promised. Not only favela: the ‘Rave de Favela’, which gained new choreography on stage and diploma in pick-ups. It was a sign: with the sun going down, the track gave way to a sequence of hits well known to Brazilians. He had ‘Go Malandra’absolute hit of Anita, followed by the rebolativa ‘Wobble Ball‘.

in addition to anita and her mastery of the stage, a highlight of the show were the choreography and the singer’s team of more than 40 dancers, responsible for a huge part of the mood of the presentation – a funk dance in fact, carioca, brown and sexy, but also a corps de ballet mastering the most pop choreography.

From start to finish, the show was a crossroads of various phases of Anita, who was a singer, popstar, funker, dancer and MC there. To an audience that did not always accompany her, she showed herself. Anyone who didn’t know Larissa de Honório Gurgel, the one who promised to take funk to the world, got to know her. And to the others too, one by one, to all versions of a Anita, that made the stage of Coachella your own dance.
