Launched after the success of ‘Meteoro’, the special mixes drama, music and biography of the Mato Grosso singer
The celebration of the country singer’s 15-year career Luan Santana will take place in the city of Luan. Scenario created to host the artist’s concerts with a program produced by Conversation with Bialthe initiative marks an unusual format for ‘Som Brasil’, the traditional end-of-year program of the house.
In Cidade Cinematográfica a Estúdios Globo, Pedro Bial “interprets” the characters that are part of the homage. In one of the spaces, for example, there is a café, which has Bial as the bartender and Luan as the customer.
The conversation develops by ‘playing’ with the environment. Another scenario is an airplane, where they are pilots; and the third is a cinema, where the presenter watches scenes from the story of the protagonist – Luan. these scenarios were built on the basis of the image of the concert celebrating the musician’s 15th birthday. The idea was to let Luan and the public know what Luan City is like.
Although the content admits a mixture of interviews, conducted by Pedro Bial, and presentations, in each edition, the concept is conceived with a focus on the artist. The scenarios, the way the interviews take place and the way the trajectories are told, the format of the musicals, everything is built on the basis of elements of the winner’s story.
“In the show, the audience sees buildings, signs, sees the city from the outside, and now we enter this city as if we were entering Luan’s intimacy. We observe that the city has many inspirations from art deco, the universe of noir, in an atmospheric film medium; a look at 1930s Chicago and New York, and we follow the same aesthetic concept, which explores neon, gold, a beautiful elegance of the era,” he explains Gian Carlo Bellotti, general manager.
The dramaturgical aspect is used as a joke to connect the scenarios to the interviews. “We wanted to show what Luan City is like when you enter it, so we created some scenarios connected to the city; and we are playing with this imagery, which is also in the way the interview is conducted,” says Monica Almeida, art director.
The conversation is interspersed with musical performances, which are cuts from the 15th anniversary commemorative show of his career, in which Luan sings hits, as well as unreleased repertoire, which he specially prepared for the program, with songs by other artists, such as Fortunatelyby Marisa Monte and Arnaldo Antunes a I can’t help but fall in loveby Elvis Presley.
These exclusive musicals were inspired by Elvis, of whom Luan Santana is a self-declared fan. “We discovered a special at the end of the year, from 1968, with Elvis, and we brought, for example, a concept similar to musicals, which are more intimate, with few people”, Gian Carlo points out.
