Greek actress Nena Chronopoulou has responded to social media critics who accused her of spending money intended for her disabled son's therapy on a cosmetic face lift.
Chronopoulou posted a video online to address negative comments linking financial support for children with disabilities to personal spending on aesthetic surgery. She clarified that she has never requested money for her son, Christos, or his medical care through her personal social media profile.
The online backlash followed a post by the actress featuring photos and videos to mark one year since her face lift, a surgical cosmetic procedure. Chronopoulou had previously spoken openly about undergoing the procedure, but the anniversary post prompted accusations from several online commenters.
In her response video, Chronopoulou said some users wrote that families ask for money for their children's therapies only to spend it on face lifts. She stated that she has never asked anyone for financial help on her profile, whether for her child's therapy or for any other activity.
Life after a disability diagnosis
Chronopoulou also discussed her relationship with Christos and how their daily life took shape after his disability diagnosis. She said that while their children have disabilities, they do not stop being their children, adding that Christos is her son and that reality will never change.
Reflecting on her mindset as a mother, the actress explained that she chose to accept her son's condition rather than resist it. She said she loves his disability, has come to terms with it, and has become friends with it.
Speaking about their daily routine, Chronopoulou explained that she lives with Christos in the exact same way she would if she had a neurotypical child of standard development. She acknowledged having to adjust certain habits over time, but emphasized that life does not stop after a diagnosis.
